Carol Barroso’s paintings emanate vigor and and a spontaneity that resonate with the world of poetry that Carol is so very fond of. A style that resembles travel through Naive Art to Post-Impressionism to Primitivism to Expressionism. Her focus is undeniably connected with her life path as well as with nature. Nature motifs appearing frequently in her compositions, varying from figurative to abstraction or semi-abstraction.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Carol brings into her work a wealth of diversity which she explores as she adapts to the Australian way of life and land. With a strong connection to her natural environment, Carol continues to bring her surroundings into her work, as well as exploring themes of heritage and daily life.

Carol has an MFA from Cofa Unsw which she concluded in 2016, as well as an MA in Art Therapy from Western Sydney Uni. Carol exhibits her works in different exhibitions, as well as working as an art therapist. Carol has worked as an art therapist at couple different hospitals, besides working privately for Ndis clients and independent groups.

Carol believes that the painting process is very often layered and part of an intuitive creative unfolding, where she exercises minimal control and careful obedience to the flows and ways of the brush.
